Technology

Technology has drastically changed the way dental practices operate. At New York City Smiles we are equipped with digital technologies that open up new possibilities. These technologies have added enormous precision and made it possible to guide procedures more precisely and minimally invasively. This is reflected in improved quality care, enhanced treatment planning and precise and predictable final restoration.

3D CONE BEAM – CBCT

We can’t treat what we can’t see. 3D digital imaging technologies allows for our dentists to identify with accuracy certain pathologies and anatomical characteristics required for more complex dental treatments.

It also provides a high-resolution view of the mouth, upper jaw sinuses, temporomandibular joints (TMJ), and airways to assess for sleep apnea. Most importantly, this type of machinery exposes the patient to minimal radiation with minimal invasiveness.

3D PRINTING

3D printing is a rapidly growing technology in numerous fields, and a rapidly growing arena in dental laboratories. Dental 3D printers feature lights or lasers that polymerize a liquid or fuse a powder with the computer-guided precision required to produce small objects with intricate details. They are capable of producing models, parts and even complete restorations out of a range of materials. Our 3D printers deliver tight-fitting crowns and orthodontic models with a best-in-class smooth surface that results in crystal-clear thermoformed aligners.

DIGITAL X-RAYS

At New York City Smiles, we use digital radiographic system which means that x-rays are now taken in the blink of an eye (literally). This is an essential tool in helping our dentists detect pathologies like cavities, abscesses, and fractures in their initial phase. It allows them to better examine each area of the tooth, and it makes it possible to zoom in without losing resolution, for optimal evaluation and treatment. The digital X-rays use a lot less radiation (90% less to be exact) than the conventional ones.

In-House Ceramic Lab Technology Image

In-House Ceramic Lab

At NYC Smiles, we feature a state-of-the-art lab with CAD/CAM Technology and an in-house milling unit, which gives our doctors and team the opportunity to customize and personalize each process for our patients. This innovative technology significantly reduces turnaround times for dental restorations and allows us to provide an unprecedented level of quality, customization, and convenience.

INTRAORAL PHOTOS

Intra-oral cameras allow us to photograph your teeth quickly and easily. The resulting images are immediately projected onto a computer monitor and then imported into our dental practice software so that we can examine existing fillings, cracks in teeth, gum recession and decay under high magnification.

INTRAORAL SCANNER

One of the most recent and significant changes in dentistry is the introduction of digital scanning techniques as an alternative to traditional molds. An intra-oral scanner allows for immediate high precision dental impressions with great accuracy, replacing messy analogue impressions and as a result improving patient experience. Our intra-oral scanners are designed to simplify and speed up the scanning process and also generate better 3D images in high-definition. At NYC Smiles, we are always up-to-date with the latest versions and models.

LOGICON

Sometimes it’s difficult for us to diagnose cavities, especially in the pits and grooves on the biting surfaces of back teeth. We use Logicon, the only commercially available FDA-approved radiographic caries diagnosis software, to help our dentists visually analyze x-rays and diagnose caries on proximal surfaces.
